Some of the Artists
Before Melted Crayons Mission ever launched, we were already handing out art supplies to kids, quietly and casually, whenever we could to support their art. 3 of these are works created with the supplies I gave them, and the other is one that was purchased. They may not be part of the official MCM project that is focused on helping kids with the arts after home fires, but they did provide an insight and energy that is behind a part of who, and what, we are.
These two pieces were my first gifts of art from kids. The 9 year old boy upstairs hand-crafted the flag, and his 10 year old sister was envisioning perspective and a statement. That was so cool and generous of them.

This piece was the first original artwork I purchased. Her mom showed me all the works on the living room wall and I made an offer. Great experience for all of us.

Amazing speed of understanding contrast. I gifted all my drawing pencils from my early years to this girl when she was about 11 years old and explained the importance of shading and shadows. Two years later... wow!

We gave the girl upstairs a box of sidewalk chalk and she went to town! Nice, consistent stars at such a young age. Wonder what she's creating nowadays?
